Review: Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Punch Drunk and Crush

Lip pencils frequently offer precision, opacity, and wear-time that outcompete traditional lipsticks. The Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color by Urban Decay is a great example of the power of a pencil.
Punch Drunk is a vibrant orange that looks like it would be perfect for creating warning signs to prevent unobservant tourists from driving off of cliffs. I am not sure that naming the color after the colloquial term for a severe neurological condition was exactly tasteful, but at least the color is gorgeous.Crush is a slightly lightened, saturated fuchsia. It definitely feels like a Barbie doll color. Neither of these are made for people who shy away from vibrancy!

Each color is fully opaque, making it perfect for bold-lip lovers. The finish, true to the product name, is nice and glossy. The application is creamy and neither too soft nor too hard. It’s not at all drying.

The wear-time is acceptable, but not ideal. Punch Drunk was definitely noticeably faded after the “four hours and a meal” test, but Crush performed admirably.

I do wish this was a twist-up product, since I am lazy and hate sharpening things, but that is a relatively minor quibble (and is pretty typical of lip pencils).

Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Pencils retail for $19 for 0.10oz ($190 per ounce). For comparison, NARS lip pencils retail for $25 for 0.086oz ($290.69 per ounce) and the Bite Beauty Matte Lip Pencil retails for $24 for 0.09 oz ($266.67 per ounce).

1. I think I like Punch Drunk better, it’s really vibrant. Both of them are, they’re lovely!

2. Crazy colors are always my favorites!

3. Can you do a review on the Stila after glow lip pencils? Thank you!

4. I was planning on doing a “how does it work” but my blacklight doesn’t have batteries, so I’ve been procrastinating, haha.
